Originally part of Huw Williams' Ace of Base Homepage, the café first opened in late 1995 as a means for fans of the Swedish pop music group Ace of Base to meet other "Acers" and find news about the band. Between 1995 and 2001, the café accumuluted nearly 50,000 messages and helped the homepage earn numerous awards, including Best of the Web, Top Five Percent of the Web, and the Yahoo! Cool Site Award.

In March 2001, the message board changed direction to become the Mulberry Days Café, a more general arts- and music-centered forum
